During the 4th Convocation Ceremony of the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Kota, held on 13th July 2025, the Honourable Vice-President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, addressed the gathering and delivered a powerful message on the state of education in the country. He expressed strong concerns regarding the transformation of coaching centres into "poaching centres," which he described as "black holes" trapping young talent and stifling creativity.
The Vice-President warned against the increasing culture of rote learning, stating it turns students into "robots" and runs contrary to the foundational principles of the National Education Policy (NEP). He emphasized the urgent need to return to a more holistic, inquiry-driven, and creativity-enhancing approach to education.
